Unsolved Export Samples for Installer - hanging at Compressing 100%
-
It's a large .ch1 file about 1.5GB. No error message in the console.
I have tried to delete same samples from samplemap to reduce the size of monolith file. ~400MB, 600MB is OK, about 800MB hanging again... has it reached the limit? -
JUCE Assertion failure in hlacdecoder.cpp:108
HISE Debug.exe has triggered a breakpoint. -
@civet Are you using the develop branch?
-
@d-healey Yes.
It only happens when using a large file.
Maybe, an error occurred when decoding the temp file? -
@civet I'm not sure. Have you tried a different set of samples that also have a similar file size?
-
@d-healey Many thanks for your support.
I have tried another one.
Now I can reproduce this issue with a .ch1 file (683MB). I can share it later. -
@d-healey
I just uploaded these files:- project files with .ch1 on Dropbox
- project files with .ch1 on GoogleDrive
- sample file (the samplemap refers this .wav with different file names)
I'm not very familiar with the codebase. I'd really appreciate it if someone could help to check it out

I didn't realise you're trying to compress the samples of an expansion. First you need to encode the expansion, do this using the toolbar at the bottom of the Project Directory tab in the sidebar.
This will compress the expansion into an hxi file, then when you go to export the samples you need to select the hxi file for the expansion.
-
I just tested on my system and I'm hitting the same problem the progress gets to 100% and HISE freezes...
-
It always happens whether it is used in .hxi or not.
-
@civet Seems like you've found a bug
-
@d-healey so the bug kicks in above a certain size of hr1 file? I’ve been encoding around 4-500 mb expansions fine so far.

I just came across the same issue, stuck on 'Compressing 100%'.
My instrument samples are quite detailed with 4 round robins so not much room to reduce the size below a few gigs.
Did anyone find a workaround for this? -
Encountering this today. Never before had to export samples for installer. First time doing this.
Freeze at the first file, Smaplemap.ch1., at 100%. Both the HR1 and the Temp file say 0KB. After killing HISE (because it doesn't react otherwise), the temp file size shows to be around 75% of the target (around 750MB for the 1000MB split, 325MB for the 500MB split).
Monolith at 1000MB split.
Export split at 1000mb -> freeze.
Export split at 500mb -> freeze.Monolith at 500MB split.
Export split at 500mb -> freeze.Full Dynamics support enabled. Monoliths made as Full Dynamics.
Closing HISE and opening it again so that it shows an empty preset but the project is still the same one, no budge. Export will correctly start for the monoliths, meaning that the Export function works on project folder level, so it's not related to anything in the preset.
Deleting monoliths, deciding to try creating them and exporting without full dynamics, i.e.
No Normalization
. This time i left everything by default, both at monolith creation and at sample export. No normalization, no full dynamics.Still freezes. My samples are 24bit 48k. There are ~8000 of them, which isn't a lot.
Deleting the monoliths and resetting the sample map mode to 1, export now finishes instantly, resulting in a 1 KB file. So the export only works for monoliths.
I'm at a loss here.

@aaronventure Does it work if you do it from the cli?
-
@d-healey No, how?
https://docs.hise.audio/glossary/command-line-tool.html
I don't see any mention of sample export.
I have two sample maps. One is very small, less than 150 samples. If that's the only monolith in the project, the export goes fine.
But of I create a monolith for the large one, even at 200MB split, it fails.
-
@aaronventure To see the latest docs just run "HISE Standalone" --help from the cli. (might be slightly different on Windows/MacOS). If I remember correctly the command is compress_samples
-
@d-healey Freezes at the same spot
This is the same console output I get when attempting to export from HISE.
