Can the number of outputs be changed dynamically?

For example if I have a plugin that loads expansions and one expansion has 3 mic positions and another only has 1 mic position, the second expansion wouldn't benefit from anything more than stereo out.

@d-healey You mean the Plugin Outputs? I think it's not possible, in most DAW's you have to Re-scan and even manually clean caches and preferences before validation when you change the Number of outputs of a plugin.

@Soundavid Yes plugin outputs is what I was thinking of.

@d-healey I think Since the validation tool takes care of the outputs information it is not possible, some DAW's like Logic internally create multiple instances of the Plugin depending on the channel formats info, imagine if you change that dynamically using the plugin? it would be a big crash.

I remember years ago using East West play and I think depending on the instrument you loaded you got a different number of outputs. The symphonic orchestral libraries for example had 8 outputs but other libraries like fab four only had 2. I'm going to have to dig out my copy and see if my memory is correct or if it just loads the plugin with the maximum number of possible outputs from the start.
