Incoming note length

Is there a way for a VSTi and specifically HISE to know the length of a note before the note off?

The length of a note is defined by it's note off, so no :)

But presumably the DAW knows the length so is there some mechanism for it to tell HISE?

No DAW is kind enough to tell you about the future.

That's what I figured :( it's a shame, it could open up a lot of possibilities if there was a standard way for DAWs to communicate this kind of info with VSTis

Would basically open up the doorway to all sorts of predictive stuff, especially legato... but because midi is how it is, nothing's really cracked it yet. There are a few things using stuff like "learn" function, but I've had nothing but trouble with this when working with cues that have even one or two time signature changes or last longer than five minutes...
