Trigger Scriptnode FX - on Note

I would like to understand how the workflow to activate "on note" plugins works.

I created the plugin in scriptnode, it's a flanger. I would like to be able to activate this plugin on notes but I don't get the desired results.
I decided to connect control.midi to the oscillator gate but the result is a continuous and unmodulated sound.

I tried connecting control.midi to control.bang but to no avail.

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong with this logic? any input can help me.
