How to set MIDI input channel for effect plugin?

I've tried using the MIDI channel floating tile as well as the Settings.toggleMidiChannel() function, but it seems the effect plugin still responds to MIDI no matter which channel it's on.

I'm talking about MIDI assignments to knobs through MIDI learn, with the controller callback it seems to be fine.
