how would I use 2 layers of sound in the same sampler but control their seperate volumes on the interface with seperate volumes for each?
-
say I have 2 seperate sets of samples in a sample map. one is a low strings taking up the whole keyboard, the other is hi strings also taking up the keyboard, Can I have them in the same sampler layered and on the interface have 2 seperate volume or gain knobs representing each sound. so, they play at the same time but you can adjust the mix of sound one and sound 2? or do I need 2 samplers playing at the same time?

i dont know if what your asking is possible. but why not just use 2 samplers?
-
Sounds like you could do this with group xfade
-
@Adam_G so I could do this with 2 samplers but then the preset browser has to swap sample maps for 2 different samplers by using one preset browser. How difficult is that?

@d-healey any way to tell me how or point me to a specific tutorial?

The preset system just stores/restores the state of controls on the UI. It is not connected to sample maps. By using a UI control to load sample maps though you can have them change with the presets.

I cover it a little in this video around the 7:30 mark

@d-healey that sort of helps. I had watched these before but it doesn't go over what i asked specifically. Thanks! As a side question, is there a way to record into HISE like a sampler that can sample from outside sources? Like if I wanted to build a true sampler that can actually sample?

@gryphonsegg I think someone managed to do that but not sure, try a forum search

@gryphonsegg the way ive always done it is per @d-healey tutorials so via combobox. the combobox value is saved in each preset so when you load the preset the combo box sets the loaded sample map. works well
