Routing - DRY/WET send in series.

  • Hello!

    I'm dealing with a little puzzle. I'm trying to have multiple fx in series that also has a dry/wet knob. So here's my routing idea :

    master 1-2 ---> 1-2 (dry)
                            --- >  SUM (5-6)  ---> 7-8 (dry)
                   3-4 (wet)                                  ---> SUM (11-12) ---> out
                                                   9-10 (wet)

    But I can't seem to make it work. What is the difference between the white connections and aqua blue connections?

    Here's a snippet of part of the routing I have in mind. In this example, I should be able to reduce the gainVerb and only have the clean signal because 1-2 and 3-4 are summing up in 5-6 and 5-6 is going to Hise output 1-2. But when I bring down gainVerb (3-4), i can't hear the dry signal (1-2)

  • @marcLab Hey,

    First, route all channels to Stereo by right-clicking on the main container matrix.

    81b689db-a66c-4c23-8a4f-23e389506d8e-image.png

    The white wires are dry channels and the blue wires are send channels.
    For each send module, follow the signal flow...

    4e9881ef-e742-4a6f-8bac-eb5ba8d5dd4e-image.png

    In the end, channels 1-2 and 3-4 are send to the container's output.
    You don't need the last routing matrix.

  • @Matt_SF

    Hey Matt! This works perfectly but..now the problem is that if I bring down the gain of fx1 for example I'm also bringing the gain down for the rest of the fx signal chain. This is why I'm trying to SUM my wet/dry at every stage... For example,1-2 50% dry and 3-4 is 50% wet. Both are going 100% in 5-6, then I split 5-6 to 7-8 (dry) 9-10 (wet). At every stage, I have a mix knob that affects the fx gain knob (send) and the dry gain knob (if the mix knob is in the middle then it's 50% dry, 50% wet) summing together. I don't want to use the wet attribute of the reverb because this also brings down the reverb tail volume if you play dynamically with it. This is why I'm using the simple gain before the effect as a send.

    I'm not sure if I'm explaining myself correctly, but yeah..

    😛

    This snippet explains my problem. If you bring down gainVerb Gain, then this signal is not passing through the saturator1. What I'm trying to achieve is that dry 1-2 and wet 3-4 are going both to 5-6 for example.

  • @marcLab

    If the master out will be 11&12, then first you need to clear all master routings and set the master routing only 11&12 to 1&2

    Then put a 5&6 to 11&12 router into end of the fx chain, you're ready to go 😉

    I can see the master meter move but no sound.
    Is this the same on your side?

    Hold shift then click 1 then 3 . >> 1 to 3 blue line is created.

    Hold shift then click 2 then 4 . >> 2 to 4 blue line is created.

    if I can't route 1-2 to 3-4 and then 3-4 back to 1-2 as an example.

    this works->
    Not returning 1-2 caus I only want wet for example purpose.

    not this->

  • I think I have figured this out! I'll post a snippet when I'll be done.

  • @marcLab Nothing is stopping you to re-use different channels, as long as you "cut" them once you're done with your effect. But if you want to a dry/wet thing between channels 1-2 and 3-4, you'll have to script it.

  • Here's a snippet!

    Thanks everyone!

    So if you move
    sendGain12 (dry) sendGain34(wet) or sendGain78

    You can move from saturated reverb to only reverb or dry. And all of this is in series.
