Unable to Compile HISE on New Mac Apple Air
-
Hello everyone, hope you all are doing well. I am back again with New Mac Air. I have purchased it only for HISE but no luck. From yester day I couldn't even build HISE ( from the source code)
ipp.h
error. I have got Catalina OS. The default Projucer 5.4 not even loading. I have to use the JUCE 6 (that has made with JUCE splash screen ;) ).
I thought I have been familiar a bit on windows platform now it's time to move on to MAC for HISE but no luck. How to compile it? I have installed Intel performance primitive. But error. New Mac user couldn't use HISE?IPP Link

On M1 you can still use old Projucer. I also installed ipp from 2019 and everything works ok. I'm only issue is that I must create xcode project and hise and open this project in xcode.

How did you install IPP? I mean Online or offline installer? Did you keep minimize HISE,Xcode and JUCE during IPP installation? What OSX are you using?

I don't think you can install "Intel" Performance Primitives to an Apple computer with "M1" chipset :D
-
@orange you can install it without any problems but in fact we can't use it on this silicon but users with Intel cpu would be able to use this library.

M1 chip? I have purchased this edition..https://www.amazon.in/Apple-MacBook-Air-13-3-inch-MQD32HN/dp/B073Q5R6VR/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=macbook+air&qid=1613850792&sr=8-3
But any how I am trying to bypass IPP.
If you don't have Intel Performance Primitives installed on your machine, you need to change the Projucer file. Open the .jucer file in the Projucer (like in step 3 above), click on the Xcode (MacOSX) target and delete this from the Extra Linker Flags field: /opt/intel/ipp/lib/libippi.a /opt/intel/ipp/lib/libipps.a /opt/intel/ipp/lib/libippvm.a /opt/intel/ipp/lib/libippcore.a Then remove the include directories from the Debug and Release configurations (Remove everything in the Header Search Paths and Extra Library Search Paths. As last step, you'll need to change the USE_IPP flag. Click on the hi_core module and change the USE_IPP field to disabled. Then proceed with step 5."
But still it ends up with ipp.h error
@orange I have Intel i5 processor.

@arminh But I have Intel i5 processor.

Since you've said New Macbook Air and also right now in Apple Stores, current models of Macbook Air laptops have only M1 chipset, I just thought that :) But this model that you've purchased not a new one - MacOS 10.12 Sierra!

Yeah of course you can't use it in M1 chipset Apple computers :) I meant that actually. IPP system requirments: https://software.intel.com/content/www/us/en/develop/articles/intel-oneapi-intel-integrated-performance-primitives-system-requirements.html

@orange Hmmm...To be honest I have a very few knowledge on Mac and it's version/models. But fun part is Amazon selling it with the Catalina OS not Sierra.
My Config is : Mac Catalina 10.15.7 >i5
so do I need to use Xcode 11? -

so do I need to use Xcode 11?But in the product link that you've sent, it says Sierra :) This model was released in 2015 or 2016 (5th generation i5 processor).
Also yes I think this computer will do the job successfully. For Catalina, I am using XCode 10. I remember some users in forum were saying XCode 11 has problems.
-
@orange But No luck... I have installed XCODE 10. Still it ends up with
ipp.h
error
please need help @Christoph-Hart . I have taken Mac only for HISE.
-
@Tania-Ghosh Have you installed IPP for both multi core and single core library?
-
@orange i have downloaded from here
https://software.intel.com/content/www/us/en/develop/articles/oneapi-standalone-components.html#ippcan you guide me? I have no idea about it.
-
-
@orange Ok..Thank you :) You are a ray of hope. I'll let you know further.
-
Use older version. 2019 should work without problems.
-
2020 Update 3 - (December 2020) works here. 2021 January version should work too
-
@orange Ok.. I am trying...

@Tania-Ghosh You need to do one little thing. The latest version (as far I know) you have to locate the proper directory structure of IPP. What @Christoph-Hart described at the Projucer field is bit out dated (perfect for old IPP).But if you use the latest v 2020 or 2021 Intel Performance Primitive.
Update this location``/opt/intel/ipp/lib/libippi.a /opt/intel/ipp/lib/libipps.a /opt/intel/ipp/lib/libippvm.a /opt/intel/ipp/lib/libippcore.a
And update the Debug and Release configurations (Actual directory structure where IPP has been installed) Header Search Paths and Extra Library Search Paths.
Otherwise Xcode will not find IPP and will throw error.
