understand the routing matrix

hello I would like to understand something in the routing matrix. what do the blue and white cables correspond to? when I say cable I mean connections. if I want to send for example an fx script in channel 3 4 I put a matrix before the effect which therefore goes from channel 1 2 to channel 3 4 but I have the choice between white and blue connection.
