Convolution questions (Sounds, usability, loudness)
-
How do you guys handle convolutions in terms of gain? I often use either normal reverb convolution files or then more experimental stuff. How loud should a convolution file be in order to sound as good as possible? Is there anything to look out for when working with them? Do you normalize them to a certain standard? etc.
- For starters maybe not too boomy and not too much low-end...
- Tonal IRs will inflict that tonality upon everything you unleash them on!

@UrsBollhalder I normalize my impulses to -3dB, then adjust the gain inside the effect to taste.

What if you have a number of IRs that can be changed by the user to else etc. I am having trouble controlling levels... even if the IRs are normalized. It's always a bit of a surprise bag!

@UrsBollhalder Add a slider pack to your GUI with a slider for each IR. When you change IR you use the slider value to set the "master" gain. Once you have it setup, hide it so the user doesn't see it.
