New to HISE and trying to understand HISE's capability

Hello folks. Thank you for such wonderful forum. I am very new to HISE, but not new to programming. So I can develop code, very well, but never used HISE before.
What I am trying to do is build a GUI interface, kind of like Kontakt, then load a few sample sounds in the GUI, like 2 flutes samples, 3 saxophone samples, for example, and play these wave files using a MIDI controller.

Can HISE do this? Or is HISE only an interface engine? Meaning it can only be used to design the GUI, and the underlying engine is something else.

Like I said, I am very new to HISE, so please bear with my ignorance.
