RE: The definitive feature request & bug fix roadmap
Feature Request:
Drag’n drop for the sampler module, same as the audio looper, so that users can drag their samples onto the interface (audio waveform display) into the engine.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Scriptnode is fun!
I had a serious HISE development relapse yesterday that got completely out of hand... I ended up neck-deep in scriptnode, mangling field recordings, modulating delay times with bleeding eyeballs around midnight!

This is the HISE-only version:

Thanks to @Christoph-Hart for providing us with such an amazing tool!

RE: I'll just leave this here...
Maybe I should hit the screensaver business after all...
Hoping to pass the obligatory psychedelically-influenced first phase of shader coding soon to produce more meaningful and interesting stuff...

RE: Constant crashes
@d-healey Still on the fence about Linux. I figured that I'm already in enough trouble as it is at the moment... bleeding eyeballs, dreaming javascript and the occasional paint routine tattoo ideas...

RE: I give up
I feel you man. I started this journey 3 months ago. I’ve been nagging @d-healey on an annoyingly regular basis (weekends included)... I owe him some much beer by now that if I’ll ever met the man we might just not survive the encounter ()! Hell, I even dream of this crap. The best ideas and solutions come to me in the early morning hours while half asleep... Only to find out at 1 o’clock at night that I’ve messed something up again and that it still doesn’t work. I’ve been intensely at it, pushing as hard as I could. And it’s a pain! But I love it. I love the challenge that comes with it and I love learning new stuff! I also found out that it is truly important to take good healthy breaks from it. You’ll be more clear-headed afterwards. You have more experience than I do, so what am I blabbering here. I just have that exact same frustration from time to time. But this is such a great community and I see lots of potential for HISE and it’s front runners. Lots of strength and courage to you!

RE: Hise freelancers to translate simple kontakt Instruments?
@williemays I’ve been diving into HISE the last 2 weeks myself porting some commercial Kontakt instruments to HISE to check whether I could do it at all. I was amazed at how easy some things were compared to Kontakt. There’s a learning curve but I guess you could do it yourself as well. From what I can tell this is an amazing community that really helps and shares a lot! So... And @d-healey has a great YouTube channel and Patreon that you should look into! So much helpful stuff in there...

RE: Weird Coloring on Waveforms in Develop Branch
@danh Yes, there is!
laf.registerFunction("drawThumbnailPath", function(g, obj) { var a = obj.area; g.setGradientFill([0xCC0000FF, a[0], a[1], 0xCC00FF00, a[2], a[3]]); g.fillPath(obj.path, obj.area); });

@MikeB said in assign FX to Effect slot:
@ulrik Very good - I'll think about it at night :-))
I find that the best ideas come in the early mornings, while still being wrapped in curly brackets and paint routines... Today I tried sending an e-mail off by hitting F5!

RE: My knobs started looking a bit wobbly today...
@ustk Ah wellll... I'll have another bottle and those knoby boys will look as good as new!
-
My knobs started looking a bit wobbly today...
Ok. It's not going away. After I save and restart HISE, the wobbly knobs are gone... but they keep coming back! Anyone else seeing this? Is it the heat?
No LAF involved btw! Not that this is a total critical issue of course... Doesn't affect performance or anything... -
RE: This forums is nice!
@musictop That's the thing! It is really encouraging to try out stuff, to work hard, and if nothing else helps, fire a question! I wish more forums were like this tbh!

RE: Exporting iOS apps
@Christoph-Hart I wish I'd deserve that title... but yes, I managed to compile 2-3 prototype apps on my iPhone. Pretty cool actually! They were quite graphics-heavy but ran nicely on my iPhone 8. I then went on to rebuild them in swiftUI and elementary audio/React Native!
But I'd say if you are doing some simple apps you should be able to export to iOS. Even more complex ones should work. But it took me a while to get it to work though. I had to cut a few ties... stuff that made my app crash... not sure what it was again.
I guess what I am mostly missing with JUCE is mobile-specific touch gestures.
What exact errors are you seeing @Soundavid? Maybe I can help.

RE: iOS app with HISE
@christoph-hart But we're already down to 99, right?!

RE: How to make Trial Plugins for 10 days
@DabDab ... Well... If you want to keep the hackers away, you better get good at it my friend! I am not sure my feeble attempts at this would really bring that much benefit... I just read in an earlier post, where @Lindon described his method of tackling these things. So if he still has his stuff on these platforms, I doubt that our efforts will be rewarded. There is a much bigger hammer needed probably, or maybe an anti-hammer (Open source)?!?
I haven't thought about this myself too much, tbh! It is a problem, but for Kontakt libraries as well!
There are many questions I haven't really tackled yet myself... Open source, closed source, simple copy protection, more serious copy protection, custom-made downloader, Pulse downloader (with watermarking system... though the guys you are worried about probably don't give a shit!)...
I am not sure it is worth the fuss to be honest... These are different kinds of people... Buyers buy, freebie peeps will download freebies and hackers will steal... and probably never buy anyways... It bothers me to hear, for sure, but I am not sure it really influences your sales that much! I think the 50'000$ customer is just a different customer from the 500$ or 50$ customer... There's room for overlap, certainly, but someone who can just pay the 50'000$ will not buy (or maybe even look at) the 50$ option... Different folks!

RE: Normalize panel data values
@ustk Ok. Time for a break... This is getting embarrassing...
Thanks man! -
RE: Granular Synth
I fear you might have to have a look at the source code and check the granulator module. I get good results with and AHDSR attached. But as soon as I hit multiple keys etc. it starts getting crackling. To mess around with a granular engine on an audio level is no stroll in the park either, I suppose… At least not for me...
2 great books I am “reading” atm, that I can recommend...

code style just
What do you dislike there? I quickly got used to it (GLSL is C-like so at least there's no Lua madness involved and once you've wrapped your head around how it works (it's really different from the 2D canvas approach), you'll start enjoying it.
That it deviates from the 2D Canvas is what mainly gets my brain twisted!! It’s exactly that. I was so lost at first. Now that the panic attacks and the eye bleedings are residing, I am getting more and more into it. Following Martijn’s tutorials over and over again, making notes, messing with some numbers in the code and finally doing it yourself from scratch will get you there eventually. Funny that Martijn learned it from studying Shadertoy examples himself… Raymarching is on the list, yes… Deeply fascinated by what a bunch of numbers and words can generate!
